U.S. Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI)

NTIA participates in the United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI), a non-profit joint venture between leaders of the U.S. communications industry and ranking officials from the U.S. government.  Assistant Secretary and NTIA Administrator Arielle Roth serves on the USTTI Board of Directors, along with other senior officials in the U.S. government and private industry.

The goal of this collaborative effort, which was established in 1982 by Ambassador Michael Gardner, is to provide a comprehensive array of tuition-free courses in telecommunications and broadcasting for women and men who regulate and manage the communications infrastructures in developing countries around the globe.  USTTI has trained over 10,000 foreign officials from 177 countries, covering areas such as digital policy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), broadband, spectrum management, and telehealth.

Each year NTIA offers spectrum management and spectrum-related technical training courses through USTTI.  NTIA professional staff volunteer as USTTI faculty to teach the courses.  Availability for USTTI training is limited to participants from developing countries.  Courses are listed on the USTTI website at https://ustti.org/courses/
